Kingdom points (KP) are a representation of a lord’s strength:
The more kingdom points you have compared to your opponent, the less experience points you'll earn.
At a certain threshold, you won’t get any experience points. What's more, if you are way too strong compared to your opponents, your army will refuse to attack them.
This is a way to protect weaker players by making fights more interesting against equal or stronger opponents.
